Case Study #9.....Are you afraid of NEEDLES?

Case Study #9: A 27-year-old, athletic young man has an intense fear of needles. He tries to rationalize his fear by explaining that he is just being cautious and protecting himself from acquired immunodeficiency disease syndrome (AIDS). He realizes that his fear is irrational but is unable to control it. The patient has fainted twice in the past when his blood was drawn during a physical examination. He becomes extremely anxious at the sight of a needle and worries for days before an appointment with his physician or dentist.

Well first off, he has an obvious phobia which he has linked other traumatizing events with. He might have started with a Generalized Anxiety Disorder which he linked his fear with similar things that bothered him before. The symptoms to this disorder is complete anxiety which the body reacts with it switching off all of a sudden, like fainting. But, it is for sure he has a panic disorder without Agoraphobia. This man also has panic disorders because he feels there is no escape when it comes to encountering the needle. This reaction could be catalyzed from an inherited vasovagal reflex. 10% of Americans suffer this phobia, which could be part acquired and, suprisingly, inherited. This is very harmful to people because this phobia causes many Americans to neglect Medi Care since they do not want the puncture.

He can start off by informing himself of others whom have this problem and educate himself on over coming his fear. He can learn the importance of needles and consult his doctor on his fear so his doctor can let him know why this is important. It is very important the doctor knows so he can better understand how to help. More doctors should learn of this fear so they can find new alternatives to helping kill this fear in its entirety. People often think that if they are with a person like this, that they should take the shot first to take the fear away. This in fact worsens it because the body sends signals to the brain, furthering the upcoming panic. The person with the fear should go first, ALWAYS. If this fear existed before the appointment, chances are they know how this looks like and they know what he/she is afraid of. The comparison of a needle vs. the actual disease helps the person understand that this needle is saving them a worse pain. In the end, taking a shot is a lot of better than taking 13 of them when you actually get sick.

Britney Spear's Cry for Help.......♥

This woman has been ridiculed by everyone for her crazy actions in the past few years. Was it the drugs or was it something in her brain that triggered these impulses? Some believe it is both, but many believe it was cause and effect.

This actress started her booming carreer since she was only a child in the Mickey Mouse club when it was at its best. Many stars were born there, like Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera. Years later all of them seemed to manage the paparazzi well, but she has been eaten alive adding more to her uncontrollable perril. She has traveled a long way to her success and she has traveled an even longer way to her pursuit of happiness. Some people see her as crazy, but some view her as an innocent woman who got too much of everything she wanted to the point where she could never go back and take some of it back. This woman shows the good, the bad, and the very ugly of uncontrollable fame. This woman shows what happens when every action is being watched by strangers out to get the worst out of her to make their living. She is better now, but the transition was only possible only because of the very few who trully loved her, some of those fans who wanted her to be left alone, and the promise of being reunited with her beautiful sons again. This is Britney Spears.

She Everyone knew her life was the typical out of control rock star life. She partied with her fortune she had labored for all her life and was paying it off by going off. The paparazzi by now is nothing knew to her only because she is the center of attention for what she has been capable of doing. Everyone always saw her on the cover of People and Ok magazines for her reckless drunk behavior, like December 6, 2006 carrying a wine glass while stepping into her car, and her out of control behavior like shaving her head. Everyone saw her impulsive desicions like marrying Kevin Federline, a backup dancer who wanted the fame and riches to leach off of Britney. They married September 18, 2004. They divorced over a year after which Britney over partied herself. They had two boys which after the crazy divorce, Britney and her now Ex husband were fighting custody over the two infants. Britney lost her world, which made her lose some more control. Everyday I would pass news stands in CVS, Walmart, Target, and everywhere to see the most horrific pictures of this woman crying for her two children. Everyone knew she loved her boys so much. Flashing back to 2006, Britney sings "Someday I Will Understand." This song talks about how much she wanted a baby and the music video shows her with a pregnant stomach. Two weeks after the song came out, Britney found out she was pregnant with Sean Preston. Britney wanted someone new to depend on and to love. After her husband filed for divorce, she wanted to be with no one else but her babies.

Everyone believes she is bipolar with a manic disorder worsened by alcohol. She also has been taking anxiety disorder medicines which could be deduced to say that it was caused by the anxiety of everyone trying to watch every negative move she makes. People Magazine confirms she has had depression after the birth of both of her children. Dr. Kirschener said in People Magazine that bipolar disorders begin usually in early adulthood. Britney's fame boomed at that age with her hit single "Baby, One More Time." Also Dr. Kirschener stated that some people suffering this disorder have to hit rock bottom to realize they need to recover. After losing fame and her children, Britney knew she had to change.

Now a new Britney Spears emerges. Currently 26, she is now fit and ready to be out on the public eye to show her strength to her crowd. On December 2nd she will be celebrating her birthday on Good Morning America. Maybe this phase will be here to stay.
